Surfing the second wave: Victoria COVID Stage 3 Lockdowns

BAD NEWS – Victoria is facing a second wave of Covid-19 cases.  GOOD NEWS – Surfing is still permitted just keep a safe distance.    You cannot leave the Melbourne Metro Area so the Bellarine Peninsula and the Island are off limits. 

People could be fined $1652 for exercising outside their local area under Victoria’s strict COVID-19 lockdown rules in light of new guidelines issued by the state government.

Some QnA done with the Melbourne Age newspaper:

I live in Coburg, but I love exercising around the Botanic Gardens, is this OK?
No. You should exercise in the park closest to your home.

I live in Essendon but I want to run around Rye Beach?
No. You should run near home.

 

N.B Some customers were confronted with fines for leaving the Melbourne Metro area during the last lockdown.  Let us know your experience so we can tell others.

The URBNSRF wave pool will close for the duration of the stage 3 lockdown.

ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITY DURING LOCKDOWN

D.I.Y – Build your own surfboard in the shed.  The Surfboard Studio has all the tools and materials to complete a full board.  Even consider repairing or restoring the old mal that has been sitting under the house for 10 years.

STREET SKATE – There is now lots of skate gear on offer at Zak Surfboards.  Please note that during lockdown skate parks will be closed to the public, but local street runs are your buddy.
