Smorgasboarder is a great free publication you can find in the best surf outlets around Australia.  Issue 6 contains a feature article on Zak Surfboards (page 66) and the hard working shapers and glassers that are the backbone of the Victorian surfing community.
The most interesting perspective from all the shapers is the complete disdain for “real jobs” or holidays.  Everyone tests their own product in local (Victorian) conditions and strives for better performance.  Many of  these characters are under represented as pioneers of local surfing, and the expertise (and great sense of humor) is something the “industry” finds hard to replicate.

Zak Surfboards has proudly supported local  shapers and glassers, both to produce boards under the Zak Surfboards brand and supporting the individual shapers label.  Smorgasboarder also acknowledges this unique fellowship and have contributed in shining the light on such a creative spot in the worlds surfing community.

Smorgasboarder Issue 6 is available online, and we were able to embed the edition above for you to flip through and have a read.  Please direct any commentary via our Facebook page, and help support your local shapers and Smorgasboarder.

In addition we set up a special “Shapers Profiles” menu in our sidebar to highlight some of these characters. We currently hold stock from most of the profiles shapers. Already some Victorians abroad have found on outlet to purchase their favorite Vicco shaper. We have sent boards up to Queensland and across to SA and WA. Flip through the links to view some of the great surfboards that are available in store, and updated fortnightly.
